Life

My word life gets in the way of living !

I have not painted anything substantial since starting ‘ The Orchids ‘ back in Oct 2010…  and with another house move pending ( within the next 2 weeks ) it looks like it will be a while before I can slow down to the pace of creativity and let it flow.

Time management shall be my first priority…  with getting home schooling taken care of for the day, taking care of the household duties ie cooking / cleaning and finally to fit in some precious time for me, which like most parents know is always last on the list … or is that just in my home ???

I have decided to start painting En Plein Air because this means I have to leave the house ALONE and will be able to lose myself completely in what I am painting with out any interuptions and can return home when I am done … within a few hours.

But first I will finish ‘ The Orchids ‘ for Mum…  hopefully I can get to it in March.

Orchids begin

A two Panel commission of Orchids ~ 2 x 24 x 24 inches ~  Oil on canvas ~ 22nd Oct 2010

This is the first in what will be  a series of posts showing the stages of this piece in progress…

We moved house yet again and this two panelled piece never did get finished, instead there was a change of mind and the canvas was recycled so new paintings have begun with different subject matter / July 2011.

Still life under painting

15th March 2010 photo is a little blury …
24 x 24 inches oil on stretched canvas ~ stage one….
‘ Apples ‘ under painting in a loose painterly style.
Although I have yet to complete my last little still life I had to feed to this huge hunger from within to get loose and free with the paint… I am kind of liking the duo tones of this under painting so might reproduce these colours for the next stage and have a sepia tone style painting ? … Fresh and different I think :)
